Making Amazon Prime Day Work for You

There are several holidays tied to buying stuff. For Halloween, we buy all kinds of crap we shouldn’t be eating and feed it to our kids. When Valentine’s Day approaches, husbands and boyfriends live in fear of forgetting it, or getting their significant other’s card, gift or flowers wrong again.

Fourth of July is when we buy expensive things we can burn and piss off our neighbors. Of course, there are the various gift-giving holidays that are linked to specific religious groups. I’m leaving out birthdays and anniversaries, which are set individually. I wonder — if we got rid of the gift requirements for all these holidays, would U.S. retail collapse?

Then there’s Amazon Prime Day. Like Black Friday, at least the event is honest in that it doesn’t try to pretend it’s something other than a new incentive to spend money. It might as well be a holiday, though, because people will be shopping and not working for at least part of it.

Last week Amazon announced it was retraining a huge number of its employees. This week it is retraining us to buy on command. Sadly, like many of you, I’ll be one of the lemmings looking for bargains with my credit card out.

Likely, like most of you I did not stop shopping weeks earlier, in order to have a lot of cash budgeted to spend — and save money — today. This suggests we should have a strategy in order to optimize the Prime Day opportunity and make sure that the savings we get are real.

I’ll share some ideas about that this week and close with my product of the week: an affordable racing simulator that could reduce your chances of getting a ticket and keep your kid out of jail.

Appreciating Scale

Every vendor can have a sale, and most do, but even Sears sales events, when Sears was a national power, weren’t really the international event Prime Day has become. Amazon Prime Day really is in line with a national holiday, and given the adverse impact on productivity, it is effectively an undeclared unofficial holiday for a significant number of us.

It is also probably nearly as stressful for the Amazon employees working in fulfillment as being in a war, because the two-day load on those employees can be around three times what it normally is (suggesting that maybe Amazon should give a lot of these folks a few paid days off to recover when Prime Day is over).

This scale points to Amazon’s power, and in an election year when breaking up Amazon is actually one of the screwy platforms from the Democratic party, I expect that Prime Day probably reinforces the perceived need to reduce that power.

In short, the scale of this event from one vendor — which does rival Black Friday and particularly Cyber Monday — is pretty much unprecedented. By the end of the day, many of our pocketbooks will be decidedly lighter as a result.

Buying Strategy

First, set a budget for what you’re willing to spend on Prime Day.

Next, start a running list of expensive things you want but don’t need right away. Refrain from buying them until Prime Day (or Black Friday, or Cyber Monday). Consumables don’t make that list, but if you want a new TV, stereo, appliance, or other expensive item (like the driving simulator that is my current product of the week), you should hold off until a discount day arrives and make your purchase then.

Track prices for those items at outlets like Best Buy and eBay, so that you know whether the Prime Day deal is the best out there, and so you don’t get all fired up and pay more than you have to.

I’d set an item threshold of at least US$100, unless you have kids, because tracking adult items cheaper than that in many cases will require more work than you’d be willing to do. Check the prices during sales, and then when Prime Day comes up you’ll know whether it would have been better to buy the item on sale earlier or on Prime day, and you’ll be actively resisting Amazon’s attempt to retrain you to buy at its command.

Prime Day, like the greeting card effort for Valentine’s Day, is simply an effort to get you to spend more with Amazon and less with vendors who aren’t Amazon. You’re likely OK with this if it saves you money, and not OK if it doesn’t. This process will help you determine if Amazon Day is a value or a trick for you personally.

There will be other opportunities to buy later in the year, and this is seriously too early to be stocking up for Christmas.

Real Deals

Like other large vendors (Walmart comes to mind), Amazon can get specially configured products. TVs are what I’m most familiar with in that there are defeatured products created to look like bargains that really aren’t, so do make sure you are comparing Apples to Apples when you cross-shop the prices.

You may find, as I did a couple of years back, that the bargain Samsung TV you think you’re getting actually is a stripper lacking some of the features that you want (like extra HDMI ports in my case and parts that won’t fail after two years). These are value products positioned as though they’re discounted premium offerings, and I too have been tricked by them.

It is easy to drop into a buying frenzy, which is what the vendor wants, and overspend.

Wrapping Up: Prime Day Is Fun, but…

Prime Day is a showcase of Amazon’s significant market power, and there are great deals available from the company. Still, there are also significant dangers regarding overspending, buying things you really don’t need (like a lot of us do at places like Costco), and buying things that we think are good deals but really aren’t.

So, set a budget, make a list with prices of things you are likely to save the most on, price them against the competition over time, and then buy with confidence you are getting the best deal.

That way Prime Day works for you and not just for Amazon — or any other vendor who tries this in the future. Oh, and say a quiet prayer for the poor saps in Amazon’s fulfillment group who are making it happen this week. There really should be some kind of national recognition for them, as the workload they’ll be under during Prime Day is nearly unbelievably high.

I really don’t like racing games with a gaming controller. I don’t drive a car like that, and it takes a lot of the reality out of the experience. Gaming simulators, good ones, can cost upwards of US$50K. I’ve used several of these and they are amazing, but getting my wife to approve a $50K purchase of a racing simulator was a nonstarter.

The Next Level Racing GT Track Simulator is $899 on Amazon, and for that price you don’t get full motion simulation. What you do get is a decent racing seat, a place for your force feedback steering wheel, pedals, and a simulated shifter (if you want one — I didn’t).

This is likely an ideal rig if you also want to use a virtual reality headset, because it doesn’t come with a monitor mount (though I used a desktop mount for a monitor, and it worked just fine).

One of the benefits of using a simulator is that you can run on racetracks without wearing out your car, and if you have kids, they can work out their issues on the simulator and hopefully not feel as motivated to do the same in the family car.

I actually think a simulator is a great way to help kids learn how to drive because they won’t break the simulator or take out a slow-moving pedestrian with one. (As a side note, I think every child learning to drive should spend a few hours in a hospital seeing what kind of damage can happen if they lose control, lose their attention, or drive too fast).

In my area, a teenager basically ended his life this week when he ended the lives of several others racing the family car. This happens way too often to make any parents feel their children are safe while driving.

There is an upgrade to this simulator that adds force feedback to the chair, which costs around $3K and is on my list of things I’m going to buy on Prime Day (let’s hope it is on sale). I can’t assess how good it is until I get it, so I will save that for a future post.

In the end, the Next Level Racing GT Track Simulator is the best I’ve been able to find for the money. Assembling it was a decent afternoon project, and it feels great in use. Largely because it is going to save me a ton in tires, but also because it allows me to explore the limits without breaking one of my cars, it is my product of the week

Guru Granth Sahib at NASA

At NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), USA they have one swaroop(copy) of SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI written in english and is placed in palaquin at NASA. The scientists at NASA admit that apart from being a spiritual enlightener the living guru of sikhs SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB is full of scientific wealth too. They further supported their advocation after they tested all others holy books but nobody could withstand the scientific tests apart from Sri Guru Granth Sahib. As for example Bible aclaimed that earth is flat but NASA found earth to be round; Guru Granth Sahib already said it.

Another discovery which made NASA spell bound was that way back when discovring about whether sun is moving or earth. And they reached a conclusion that sun is stationary and all others planets are revolving around it. But Guru Nanak Dev ji 500 years back in Asa ji di Var said: “Bhey Wich pavan vahe as waho…Bhey wich chand,Bhey wich suraj.” (Meaning : in the fear of god all the things are moving from air, water to moon to sun). Now in recent discovry NASA also accepted that sun is also moving leading to eclipses.

So this way slowly but steadily science is recoganising the importance religion and a matter of great pride and respect for the living guru of not only sikhs but the whole world SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB.

In our Part-I of NASA taking Guru Granth Sahib ‘s help we saw how ultimately the whole world is bowing in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Even in India after Ram Setu issue got heated up the Prime Minister of India had to give a quote from Sri Guru Granth Sahib to prove the existence of Ram itself. Thereafter nobody questioned as the living Guru of the Humanity Sri Guru Granth Sahib have advocated Ram’s presence on the earth. For the same fact NASA only said that we are not sure of Ram Setu’s existence because at the back of their mind they had an impression that Ram’s presence has been advocated by Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Now when we go deep into our Part-II of NASA taking Sri Guru Granth Sahib’s help we look how and what? Being a research centre itself NASA always takes research on whatever they acclaim. See PART-I of this thread to know how NASA finally came to conclusion of taking the living guru’s help. Apart from conforming their discoveries NASA says that the living Guru is helping them to save their lots of time and money a lot i.e. they don’t have to invest their time and money in sending space ships or satellites. They read Sri Guru Granth Sahib and see what scientific wealth is stored in it. Like they were looking for life in other planets and NASA also said that there a many other planets where life exists. The major problem was that there was no one to guide as well as support them.

The living guru came to their rescue and one of verses says Patala Ptal Lakh Agasa Agas (Meaning: there are lots and lacs of atmosphere and planets existing). Sometime back we also saw that there has been some 14th planet discovered too and now life on Mars has also been discovered. Its a matter of great luck that world is having a living Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Nobody has to go anywhere else to find god. The almighty is itself on this earth in the form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Anyone may be (Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc.) can come and get their problem solved. You dont need to bow in front of any human. Come lets join our hands to pray in front of that Guru which has all deeps and heights of science, religion, spirituality. Also bani of not only sikh gurus but also all those hindu bhagats, muslim bhagats like Bhagat Kabir, Bhagat Ravidas ,Bhagat Namdev, Bhagat Fareed and many is present in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. All humanity say Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Atomontage reveals voxel 3D simulation technology for games

Game developers have battled each other for decades about whether voxels or polygons are best for game graphics. A voxel is volume element, a way of illustrating a 3D image without using traditional polygons. Atomontage‘s founders believe voxels are a much better way to create fully interactive 3D applications, and they’re unveiling a new platform to enable voxel art in high-end video games and other 3D applications.

Atomontage’s technology is the result of 15 years of research and development by Branislav Siles, who has more than 23 years of experience in graphics programming and volumetric technology. In an interview with GamesBeat, he said breakthroughs in the tech could change the way people create, share, and engage with 3D content.

The tech will enable volumetric simulations to scale massively in fully interactive 3D applications, with billions of voxels. The company’s prototypes show that augmented reality and virtual reality rendering and interaction with large voxel scenes is possible on low-end VR-ready hardware today.

We’re unlocking the potential of the volumetric computer graphics paradigm to make it possible for people to enjoy and edit deeply interactive 3D environments with little to no technical experience,” said Siles.

Atomontage also announced the initial core team, which is comprised of games, visual computing, medical, and other marquee industry veterans. They include Siles, president Dan Tabar, who has experience as a technical producer, tools and games designer and developer; and Trevor Snowden, vice president of production, who has 24 years of experience shipping more than 50 products.

The investors and advisers include Justin Roiland, co-creator and executive producer of Rick and Morty and co-founder of Squanch Games; Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games; and Laszlo Tabar, a world-renowned mammography screener, researcher, and teacher.

“The currently dominant 3D graphics and simulation paradigm, based on polygon meshes, is fundamentally flawed,” said Tabar. “It is burdened by a large technical debt, which is paid for by increasingly complex tool chains, high skill requirements, costs, and general friction in all areas. On the other hand, the sampled volumetric geometry we’ve created presents a simpler and more granular representation of a scene, which makes most of these issues simply go away.”

Siles has created a universal format that he says can replace traditional polygonal 3D graphics, just as mp3 files came to represent the main format for music and jpegs for pictures. He saw big flaws in polygon 3D graphics many years ago, and he believed large virtual worlds would only be manageable with a paradigm shift.

Right now, it takes years of work to be able to use complex tool chains for 3D graphics, and if you want to make a specific change in the art, you often have to go back to the right tool in the chain to make the change, Siles said.

“Voxels are the solution, and they have been around since the 1970s,” Siles said. “Voxels are more like manipulating clay. With polygons, you have a problem when you scale from millions to billions of polygons. It’s a data management problem that is hard to overcome. We have the software breakthrough to this with voxels now.”

Scalable volumetric sampled geometry is absolutely necessary for creating deeply interactive and detailed virtual worlds, like depicted in popular sci-fi like Ready Player One’s OASIS, Snow Crash’s Metaverse, and The Matrix, Siles said.

He added, “With our technology, we can play back fully volumetric video that have been captured for film and sports. Imagine you’re immersed in a movie or basketball court, where you share the space with the characters or players, and not only look around like with traditional 360 video, but also move around freely in the space, seeing it from any angle you want.”

“Imagine being able to view and edit large photogrammetry data sets without ever having to worry about polygon counts again,” Tabar said. “Or, helping doctors screen 3D medical imaging data in a much more intuitive manner through VR, so they can find cancers quickly and reliably. Or something like Minecraft, but with rich physics and super high voxel resolution, making the big blocks almost disappear. We’re getting an immense amount of interest from users across industrial, medical, education, film, games, and other use-cases.”

The company has completed its initial prototypes. It hopes to create plug-ins for its technology to work with game engines such as Unreal and Unity, and then it expects to launch a beta version in 2019. Atomontage is working with a team in Slovakia.

“It’s not a game engine. It’s a lower-level tech that can be integrated with other existing game engines,” Siles said.

Atomontage is developing this platform for use across multiple industries. The platform will streamline the capture, creation, editing, distribution, and consumption of all forms of interactive 3D computer graphics. Siles said voxels are compatible with ray tracingtechnology.

The company’s name comes from Atoms, the little cubes and particles that are the basic building blocks of voxel images, and they can store more data than just a color (e.g. physical material properties, normals, authorship, etc). The “voxel” is a graphics-specific term, but it doesn’t capture this additional capability of the company’s “montage of atoms.”

Of course, the polygon has decades of dominance as its advantage. We’ll see whether the time of the voxel has come, or if it will have a hard time overcoming the polygon’s installed base.

Is WordPress Still Relevant ?

Open Source Software

WordPress is an open source software based on PHP & MySQL. Open source software is developed and managed by a community of developers. Open source software is a non-commercialized approach to developing software. The beauty of this is that WordPress is free.

The drawback is that there is not any traditional customer support. WordPress offers support in document form, but you have to search for the answers. You will not be able to call a customer service representative and ask your questions. There are also third-party tutorials, that cover beginner to advanced subjects.

Proprietary Software

In contrast, proprietary software companies higher. A staff which includes developers that develop software for profit. The company offers different services, but the main difference is support!

WordPress at the Beginning & Now

WordPress was a contact management system (CMS) and a blog manager. But, it has evolved into so much more! The community of volunteer developers continued to create new ideas. Those ideas created themes and plugins.

What Exactly Does it Do

In the beginning, WordPress was designed to handle blog post content. You can add images, video, body copy, and a host of other digital assets to create great posts. It also controlled user comments and rolled based access.

Now, it still does all the above but also includes a full-blown web page design tool. You can add headers, footers, navigation, sidebar, body copy. All this without knowing a once of code. On top of all this, you can increase the functionality by adding themes and plugins.

Themes

With WordPress, you can add themes that allow for different types of functionality. Themes (there are over 11,000) will enable you to choose a look that reflects your business.

Many third-party themes are free, but for higher quality, you may have to shell some cash. Third party companies vary in the support they offer. Before you buy a theme be sure, you read everything. Also check out their support, FAQ page, and documentation.

Plugins

The world of plugins is a bit more complicated. Plugins offer you more functionality. Check out the following list of possibilities.

Form Creation
Advanced Maps
Image & Video Sliders
Reservation Systems
E-Commerce
SEO
Google Analytics
Cool Calendars
Email Marketing Integration
Security
Backups
Website Speed Improvement

As you can see, you have plenty of choices with over 40,000 plugins. Please note that plugins can add great functionality to your site. But, it can also add some grief. Plugins can conflict with each other and with some themes.

Conflicts cause parts of your site not to work and can be frustrating. The solution is usually disabling some plugins in hopes that the broken ones work. All in all, plugins work and are a great way to increase the capabilities of your website.

Ease of Use & Popularity

Ease of use is what makes WordPress so popular. With WordPress, there is no need to understand complex coding. You can type content in your body copy like a word processor. Themes will include headers, footers, sidebars, and navigation.

All these elements are easier to control rather than coding it. They are used in over 30% of all the websites on the internet. WordPress powers 14.7% of the top 100 sites in the world. Thirty-seven million global Google searches for “WordPress” are made per month. Around 19,500,000 websites on the entire web use WordPress.

So is it relevant, yes it is relevant? I’m an avid WordPress developer/designer. If you have any questions about WordPress or you need help with your site, I would be happy to answer them. Please feel free to contact me at the following.

PUBG Mobile Update: PUBG Mobile to get Erangel 2.0 and Walking Dead Crossover very soon

Good news PUBG Mobile enthusiasts! The most popular map of the most popular mobile battle royale game is getting a big update.

Yes, the Erangel map of PUBG Mobile is getting a massive change soon as confirmed by the PUBG Mobile Global General Manager Vincent Wang. He also mentioned the upcoming crossover with AMC’s Walking Dead.

A few weeks ago, Erangel 2.0 has been released in PUBG PC. And since then the fans were very much hyped about this game-changing update.

Finally, in the PMCO finals day 2, Mr. Vincent Wang, the Global General Manager of PUBG Mobile unveiled about this upcoming change.

What is Erangel 2.0 ?

Erangel 2.0 will be mainly changing the popular locations of Erangel. Mylta Power, Prison, Yasnaya Polyana, Mansion, Military Base, Primorsk, etc will see the changes at its best. This new update to the map will also introduce high grasses on the map. And this is probably going to be a game-changing experience for the players.

According to the gameplay on Erangel 2.0 on PC, if the players hide inside the high grasses, then it is nearly possible to find out those players unless they go near and encounter.

So, if the Erangel 2.0 is going to be the same on PUBG Mobile then the whole experience is going to change. Campers will be getting a great boost!

Crossover with The Walking Dead

With the announcement of Erangel 2.0, Mr. Wang also talked about the upcoming crossover of PUBG Mobile and Walking Dead. Although he did not reveal any more info about it, it is expected that the crossover will arrive with the PUBG Mobile update v0.14.0.

The beta update is already having a new zombie game mode called “Infection” which may be a hint for this upcoming crossover? If it is true, then it will be nice to see the PUBG MobilexTheWalkingDead with ‘Infection’.

Web app vs native app development – which is better for your business?

Many businesses are starting to realize that they need Mobile App Development to help them accumulate more sales while also increasing their marketing efforts.

Businesses who use Mobile App Development to assist them can choose to use either web apps or native apps. Here is a look at Web App Development and Native App Development to help your business decide which option is better.

The Basics
Native apps function on a device while Web apps run on the inside of a web browser. You must download native apps from the app store and then install it to access the app. Web apps run directly through the web browser.

Native App Development Benefits

Native Apps Are Fast
Native apps reside on the device where they are created. Because native apps are created specifically for a device, using native apps can be easier than searching for a web app at times. Native apps have fencing technology that allows makers to set up virtual perimeters. Once you enter one of the boundaries, you will activate the app. Many businesses are using fencing strategies to improve their marketing efforts.

Native Apps Are Compatible With Others
Many native apps give you the option to sign in using a social media account such as Facebook or Twitter. This helps simplify the log in process and save you some time. Many web apps are not equipped to allow you to use other apps to sign in.

Near Field Communication
Your phone uses Near Field Communication when it pays for things. Web apps are not able to interact with the Near Field Communication chip that allows the payments to go through. Research has shown that mobile payment options enhance the customer experience.

Creative Features
Many native apps have unique features such as a proximity sensor and wake lock. These are features that are only available through a smartphone. The wake lock feature occurs when an app is able to overrule the settings for turning off the screen after the phone has been inactive for a lengthy amount of time. Many web apps do not have these features.

Web App Development Features
Web apps are known for their ability to create an app like experience for the user while they are viewing the content in a web browser. Many web app creators specifically looked for ways to eliminate a lot of these issues that people complain about when they use native apps.

Benefits

Web Apps Are Compatible
Today, many web apps are using the newest edition of HTML, a coding language that serves as the foundation of the internet. Billions of people use the internet every day. That creates lots of opportunities for businesses that prefer web apps.

A Simple Experience
You don’t have to use any energy to try out a web app. You may only have to make a simple click to bring up a web app compared to using a native app, where you’ll have to find the app, download it, and then install it before using it.

Effective Design
Many web apps are able to implement the design capabilities that mobile websites use. Once the program has been written, it can run on any platform. The content adjusts itself based on the screen size and the type of device that the web app is being accessed on. The web app experience will likely be the same regardless if you need to move an arrow around the screen or if you are swiping up and down or across on your smartphone.

Affordable Entry
Due to the relative ease of creating a web app for consumers, businesses can save money even as they develop, launch

, and promote the app. The relatively low cost of entry makes web apps attractive to businesses that want to see a quick return on their investment.

5 Features for Literacy Games on Android Platform

Increasingly parents and schools are relying on technology for children’s education and mobile application development companies are delivering rich experiences through their products in this area. Popular digital education website like Khan’s Academy and the mobile application Byju’s that was recently taken over by Facebook are a strong case in point in favour of the many merits of education apps and the reach they have. The engaging nature of the application, the paces being set to the student’s learning speed and the revisit and recall factor all add to its many benefits in gaining popularity amongst children.

Mobile app development companies work in tandem with education institutions to create applications that use the experiential learning format to engage children as individuals and groups through activities. Android is the leading mobile operating system with over 1 billion applications in its app market, the Google Play Store. It has greater reach since the open source platform is available on smartphones, wearable device and tablets in multiple price ranges. This gives its market place greater reach among target audience for the applications worldwide.

We take a look at 5 features for literacy games on Android platform that can aid in creating a rich learning experience for kids.

1. Animation for engagement

Animated figures with lots of colours and multimedia engage students of all age group. With older students, the trend leans towards high quality original images and animating facts and figures so that they leap or zoom into prominence. This aids recalling the facts and also helps in understanding concepts. Background noises, music and even recorded voice clips augment the efficacy of the visual tools.

2. Games and Interaction

Instead of a question bank or tests with multiple choice questions, if the tests are presented as games, where user can challenge others or score themselves, like in quizzes, with prizes and levels they can cross, the entire learning session becomes interesting and engaging. The advantage of an application is students can work at their own pace and distract themselves by exploring various aspects of the application. If a game is added to the application it enables students to engage in the application and not just view it passively.

3. Use voice recordings, camera and other device feature for personalizing the experience

The mobile device features such as mike, camera, flash etc. can be used to extend the application features and creating a personalized user experience. For instance, a student can probably record a lesson in their own voice or scribble notes with a stylus pen on the side-line while reading text on the application. They can use the camera to feed their image for characters in a game or for an animated cartoon series among other things.

4. Integrate online merchandize shopping

A great way to extend an app version beyond in-app purchases is to create a store for selling merchandizes. Generally, literacy app development is deployed by education institutions and media houses that also have their line of merchandise. They can set an online store within the app and create offers that will be linked with the user’s progress in the application. For instance, an online education institute can offer students course packages with scholarships based on their competency in a quiz or puzzle on the app. Another method could be offering a merchandize on discount if the player crosses certain levels of the game.

5. Define the scope for skills to test

The scope of an application must be predefined in terms of what a user will learn and the skill sets the application will help the user develop in the course on engaging with the application. So, if some application aids memory or motor skills, this must be mentioned. Also, it is essential to define not more than 4 or 5 skill sets so that neither the user nor the instructor is confused. One must seek to hire Android app developers who have nominal knowledge of instructions design to ensure that the application development goals are aligned with the overall aim of educating students correctly.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
